What time does Codex
reset?
There is not always one universal reset time. The answer depends on the limit being discussed, the account or plan, the product surface, and the time zone used in the report.
Write down the displayed time
Keep the exact date, time, time zone, product surface, and limit label. A time shown in an app is an account-level schedule, not automatically a universal reset time.
Convert before comparing
Compare reports in UTC or include the original time zone. A midnight reset in one zone can look like a different calendar day elsewhere, and screenshots may omit the zone entirely.
Identify the limit
A short rolling limit, a weekly allowance, and a banked reset can have different clocks. Do not compare them as if they were one event.
Verify the observable change
Treat a public announcement or timestamp as an early signal until the relevant balance, expiry, or available limit is observed changing.
Why two people can report different times
Reports can differ because the displayed schedule, the public announcement, and the actual account-state change are separate observations. Plan differences, rollout timing, regional clocks, cached UI state, and the distinction between a rolling limit and a banked reset can all change the answer.
A reliable comparison record
For each report, keep the original local time, UTC time, time zone, account or plan context when voluntarily shared, the exact limit label, and what changed afterward. If the available balance did not change, keep that negative result instead of calling the reset confirmed.
